12M CLASS SERIES
The 12M Series in Porto Cervo will be held from 1st to 4th September in concurrence with the traditional biennial appointment of veteran sailing boats, organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in the incomparable scenario of North East Sardinia waters. The event is held in conjunction with the International Twelve Metre Association, and under the auspices and the technical co-operation of the AIVE (Associazione Italiana Vele D'Epoca).

The YCCS Race Headquarters for the regatta will be located in the Marina of Porto Cervo.

ELIGIBILITY
The regatta is open to all veteran and modern 12M boats. Entry confirmation will be given by the Organising Authority for each boat, after verifications of its eligibility by the Organising Technical Committee. The 12 Metre Class Series is part of the "Mediterranean Cup" together with the regattas of Portofino, Cannes and St. Tropez. The participation at the 12 Metre Class Series gives the right to participate at the Mediterranean Cup.

In the event of a conflict between any of the above rules and/or regulations and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail.

EVENT CLASSIFICATION AND ADVERTISING
The regatta is designated category B, ISAF Appendix "G" of the RRS.

ENTRIES
Entries must be received, completed in full, by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda not later than 1st August 1999, Each entry shall be accompanied by a non refundable entry fee of USD 250 per boat, the boat's insurance certificate and the current measurement certificate.
The Organising Authority reserves the right to accept entries after 1st August, 1999.
The entry fee of the yachts participating at the four events of the Coppa del Mediterraneo will be reimbursed.

REGISTRATION
Final registration formalities shall be completed at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda's Race Office by 1st September before 12.00 hours, delivering the crew list with the names of each crew member. Italian competitors shall be in compliance with the Italian Sailing Federation Rules.

MEASUREMENT CERTIFICATES AND CONTROLS
The measurement certificates will be verified and controls will be effected by the 12M Association's Technical Committee and the AIVE's Technical Committee.

SCORING AND RESULTS
For the results boats will be divided
in three categories (and will be gathered into one group in case the number
of yachts in each category is less than 3):
boats with I.T.M.A. rating
certificate
boats with A.I.V.E rating
certificate
boats unprovided with valid
certificate
The Low Point Scoring system shall apply (Par. A2.2 - RRS Appendix A). The number of races scheduled is 6. Each boat's series score will be the total of her race scores. If at least 5 races are sailed there will be one discard. If less than 5 races are sailed there will be no discard.

MOORINGS
The entry fee includes moorings fees from 0800 on 1st September to 0800 on 5th September, at Porto Cervo Marina or Port East provided that the completed entry form and entry fee are received by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda before 1st August, 1999. Free moorings are not included for late entries, They may be provided at cost, if available.
